Teaching Out of the Box: Research-Based Principles for Transitioning to Online Instruction
Thursday, June 03, 2010 | 9:30AM–10:15AM | International B/C (6th floor)
Session Type:
Professional Development
This session will address the concerns of departmental faculty as they begin developing online course offerings. Principles for developing online programs will be presented, based on a review of the literature and the personal experience of a faculty member in a department just transitioning to web-based delivery. The presenter will share firsthand experiences as a newbie online instructor, a scenario that's being played out in numerous colleges and universities. Recommendations will be made for providing the administrative support needed to build the capacity of traditionally prepared faculty members to empower them to deliver effective graduate courses online.
