Research Computing Support: Finding the Right Mix of Centralized and Distributed IT Resources

Tuesday, March 15 | 9:30AM–10:15AM | Seville East/First Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
Some central IT organizations provide research computing support, but many central IT organizations have moved away from providing direct support, leaving the responsibility to distributed IT units. At UWM, we have found that a model incorporating both central and distributed IT staff who are committed to providing a quality campus service can be highly effective, regardless of the different reporting and funding lines involved. Our panelists will share their views and experiences to help other campuses shape their research computing support models.
