Supplemental Multimedia and Student Success

Tuesday, March 15 | 2:30PM–3:30PM | Empire/Seventh Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
Many institutions are developing online courses that contain rich multimedia, but studies show there is little difference in student achievement when these types of materials are included. A disconnect in the current research, however, is the failure to examine actual student use of or access to multimedia material when comparing student success markers. This presentation will address this gap by investigating student access of supplemental multimedia objects in an online music course and using the collected data to help determine the effect and value of including these course components.
