When Your LMS Can't Do It All: Non-LMS Tools for Blended and Online Courses

Wednesday, March 16 | 10:30AM–11:15AM | King Arthur's Court/Third Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
Why are busy instructors who have institutional learning management systems at their disposal choosing to augment their instruction with other online tools? Are learning management systems becoming dated or passé? Are there structural or institutional barriers to LMS use? What are the risks when using systems that are owned or hosted outside the institution? Attendees will engage in dialogue with a panel of faculty about motivations and experiences in using non-LMS tools. A number of specific non-LMS tools will be introduced. Attendees will gain an understanding of the motivations, risks, and benefits of using these tools in their own teaching.
