Growing A "Green" Virtual Environment

In this session we will discuss our efforts to provide computer science students experience with a variety of operating systems and computing environments through virtualization and demonstrate one such approach. We give an overview of our explorations into the use of virtual computing environments for instructional purposes and demonstrate that implementing a diverse, sophisticated virtual computing environment does not require a large investment in computer hardware; in fact, it can lead to cost savings by extending the useful life of computing systems and reducing the complexity of system administration.
