Online Learning to Promote Interprofessional Education: Lessons Learned

Thursday, June 02, 2011 | 2:30PM–3:30PM | Grand Ballroom Foyer
Session Type: Professional Development
Interprofessional education (IPE) is recognized as a means to improve health professions training. IPE benefits learners in professions beyond health care by improving teamwork and collaborative practices. Online learning provides an effective venue for IPE, as it offers flexibility for scheduling and location of learning, as well as the potential to personalize instruction. Given the newness of IPE in the United States, little work has described providing learning experiences in an online environment. In this session, we will present our efforts and lessons learned with implementing an online interprofessional course required for a large group of students (300).
