Transformative Technology: How Cloud Computing Helps Higher Education Rebalance IT Resources

Despite the enthusiasm in higher education for cloud-based solutions, often a cohesive idea of how the technology can help transform IT-based services and departments is lacking. This presentation will explore the idea of how cloud computing can transform departments from both an IT perspective and an organizational structure perspective. The discussion will be framed in the presenter's experience with migrating his library's IT infrastructure to cloud-based systems. It will explore how this migration positioned the library to use IT in new ways and include. An introduction to guides and tutorials designed to help new cloud computing users get started will be included.
