Backchannel Conversations with Twitter

Tuesday, February 22, 2011 | 4:45PM–5:30PM | Meeting Room 402
Session Type: Professional Development, WSWRC11
This special "Experience IT" session is designed to offer a hands-on, highly interactive introduction to an emerging tool and explore its potential impact for professional development and the classroom. Please bring your iPad, laptop, or mobile device to the session so you can engage with the presenter. Seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. A full battery charge is recommended for your device.

Twitter and other backchannels give us a free-form communications service where we can share information and network with our peers. Campuses are using Twitter to promote events and to share late-breaking news. Faculty are using it to increase student engagement. Others use it for microblogging and conversations within their professional networks, including this EDUCAUSE 2011 WSWRC conference. This session will provide an opportunity to delve deeper into innovative uses of this online application.
