Data Center Firewall Analysis and Consolidation

Attention to security is essential to a successful IT organization. This session will present how we reduced complexity in our data center at Oakland University while increasing information security. We'll describe our project to move from two firewalls protecting our enterprise systems to one. As part of the same project we also overhauled the rule set to make it more granular, which made the rule set simpler to work with for security administrators. This presentation will show the challenges that network security staff faced and the solutions they worked through from both network architecture and firewall administration perspectives.
