Designing a 21st-Century Technology Classroom: A Situated Cognitive Approach

This presentation will identify five factors that were considered when designing a state-of-the-art, 21st-century technology classroom: scalability, flexibility, wireless networking, adaptability, and ease of use. Using the principles of situated cognition, we'll describe the latest emerging technologies involving one or more of the factors, noting the implications that each has for increasing student engagement and empowerment. In conclusion, we'll summarize the impact of the factors on student learning and suggests an approach to designing a state-of-the-art technology classroom.
