Experience IT: Social Media- "History in Real Time"- For Students, Teachers, and You

The Experience IT session format is designed to offer a hands-on, highly interactive introduction to newer tools and technologies so attendees can explore its potential impact in their workplace or classroom or for their personal professional development. Please bring your laptop or other session-specific technology (such as smartphone or tablet) to the session so you can engage with the presenter. Seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.Based on our year-long study, this innovative hands-on session will feature social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and CNN iReport and how they can be strategically used to engage students and faculty in politics and other disciplines in national and global conversations. We'll also look at how social media can be strategically placed and targeted by topic, demographics, and timeline as well as how analytic data can track "dissemination and reach." Online resources will be provided to the group. Be prepared to be engaged and inspired. You'll bring back dynamic methods to use at your institution.
