Localized to Enterprise: Two Approaches to Campus Digital Signage

Tuesday, March 27 | 10:30AM–11:15AM | Zurich B
Session Type: Professional Development
Digital signage is fast becoming a critical channel for campus communications, but as a relative newcomer to most IT service catalogs it poses many technical, political, and financial challenges. We'll discuss the many roles of and approaches to digital signage in higher education. Western Michigan University has implemented a student-created iPad application, a low-cost and highly flexible solution that can be inexpensively maintained and modified. In contrast, the University of Illinois adopted an enterprise model, an approach that delves into issues such as governance, service architecture, content management, and costing models, to meet the demands of individual campus units as well as central IT.
