Biology Lecture Course with a Technology Twist: A Universally Designed Supplement via the LMS

Thursday, February 23, 2012 | 10:30AM–11:15AM
Session Type: Professional Development
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) emphasizes digital approaches to generate flexible and effective learning environments. It is a scientifically valid approach (ww.ed.gov 2008) that supports the needs of diverse students (CAST 2011). However, implementing UDL can be challenging (Edyburn 2010). Attend this session to discover whether and how a UDL/web-enhanced design can help instructors understand and apply UDL. Presenters will unveil results from a semester-long study exploring the viability and benefits of UDL as a means of increasing student engagement. Please join us to discover ways to apply and sustain UDL and the benefits to be gained.
