Collaboration and Technology: Scaffolding for Online Student Success

Thursday, February 23 | 1:35PM–2:20PM
Session Type: Professional Development
Collaboration and group work are important online teaching and learning strategies, providing many benefits for students related to student engagement, student learning, and student success. However, the challenges of group work, especially online group work, often leave students dissatisfied by the process. To maximize the benefits and minimize the challenges, students should be supported in the development of both collaborative technology tool use and collaborative skills. This presentation will provide research on and resources for a process of scaffolding and phasing in both student use of technology and development of student skills for collaborative group work.
