Data Management Plans: Consulting and Outreach

In response to the new requirement by the National Science Foundation that each grant proposal include a two-page data management plan, the University of Oregon been created a team to help researchers understand the requirements and create a plan for data management. Though researchers may have considered how they will manage data they collect in their research, this new requirement requires that they explain larger issues surrounding data, including tracking metadata, storing data, backing up data during collection, archiving data, and sharing data with colleagues.
