This year, the Utah System of Higher Education funded a project to create six technology-intensive hybrid courses that will be offered to high school students throughout the state for concurrent enrollment credit (high school and college). The courses satisfy general education requirements at all public colleges and universities in the state. Six design teams composed of college faculty and high school teachers are collaborating to create the courses utilizing a backward design process. Each team started by identifying expected learning outcomes, then designed a common assessment instrument and finally adopted or built online learning tools and in-class course activities.
