They Just Don't Get It! Seven Ways for Geeks and Non-Geeks to Get Along - Sponsored by Accuvant

Friday, January 18, 2013 | 11:30AM–1:00PM | Harborside Ballroom C
Session Type: Professional Development
Technical and nontechnical people often have trouble working together. They think differently. They speak differently. They work differently. It's frustrating for everyone involved. In this session, a geek and a non-geek will entertainingly identify and explain how to overcome the cultural barriers to communication and collaboration. Attendees will learn why process and governance alone won't solve these problems, how a little benign stereotyping can help us take things less personally, how to recognize the 7 key differences between geeks and non-geeks, and how to diffuse disconnects before they become serious problems.
