Connecting IT with Academics: It's Not Just about the Technology

Have you ever experienced a disconnect between technology and academics at your institution? In this session, we will start with an interactive exercise that will allow participants to experience different cultural approaches and explore the differences in perspectives between how IT and academics view technology. From there, we will develop suggestions on how IT can work to collaborate with academics to be viewed as more of a partner in the strategic use of technology. We will also discuss the long-term value to IT staff and leaders of cultivating relationships between IT and academics and possible professional development activities.
