Oracle Exadata at NIU: Strategic Alignment Leads to Increased Performance and Manageability

NIU had been running Oracle PeopleSoft on a Sun platform with EMC storage for many years. The systems and storage product life cycle were due for a refresh, which offered us the opportunity to review new solutions. We chose the Oracle Exadata engineered system solution, as we realized this strategic direction for Oracle provided lower risk, higher performance, and reduced management costs in our environment. We will discuss our decision-making process as well as the benefits and challenges we faced.
