A Practical Workshop in Diffusion of Innovations

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 | 4:30PM–6:00PM | Capitol Ballroom E
Session Type: Professional Development
Technological innovators start with an idea and aim at broad adoption. This presentation and hands-on workshop will outline a practical approach to the principles of the diffusion of innovation based on the seminal work of Everett M. Rogers. In higher education, diffusion is how innovations is propagated through user populations to change practices and approaches. The success of an innovation is measured as much by the curve of adoption as by the success of the technology. The presentation will use personal and audience-reported case studies along with problem-focused breakout groups to outline how to approach a broadly applicable action plan.
