Critical Technological Literacy: Foundations and Praxis

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 | 10:30AM–11:15AM
Session Type: Professional Development
What does it mean to be technologically literate? Drawing on the ACRL Information Literacy Standards, we (a librarian and a learning technologist) sought to answer this question. In this presentation, we will present our research on the philosophical and theoretical foundations of technological literacies; articulate a set of technology literacy (TL) standards and assessable outcomes; articulate the intersections and divergences between the information literacy (IL) standards and our TL standards; and, finally, describe practical steps for integrating our set of TL standards into a curriculum.
