Ensuring Online Success through an Innovative Program-Specific New Student Orientation

A customized stand-alone new student orientation (NSO) offered on the program level is an innovative approach to familiarizing students with online LMS tools as well as the specific guidelines of the academic program. Students are enrolled in the NSO when they are accepted into the program so they become familiar with navigating their online learning space before classes start. In this presentation, we will outline the features of the NSO including the use of Prezi with voiceover recordings and offer recommendations for ongoing assessment to ensure that the NSO fulfills the needs of the students and the university.
