Managing Big Data

Tuesday, February 12, 2013 | 4:45PM–5:30PM | Capitol View Terrace North
Session Type: Professional Development

As more and more data is moved to digital formats, universities are forced to find inventive methods for storing and securing this data and making it available. At Rice, we are bound by the same problems and constraints other institutions face. During this session, we will expose decision-point information regarding our unstructured data and how we're dealing with the costs of storing more and more data in an ever-escalating scope and scale using tape archive technologies. We will provide TCO data and a hard look into the future including views on security, compliance, financial decisions, and cloud services.
