Research Information Data Management: Scholarly Assessment in Transition

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 | 11:20AM–11:35AM
Session Type: Professional Development
Research administration is a relatively new area of academia that involves resources from IT, administrators, the library, and researchers. Maintaining data around research-related activities is traditionally a difficult but increasingly necessary task. The speaker will discuss the changing requirements around research information data management and its implications for institutions and individual researchers alike. Key topics will include the problems with collecting and managing publications data, data standardization, altmetrics and citation metrics, and OA research policies. Proper management of research information data can result in increased campus visibility through researcher websites, repositories, and networks like VIVO.
