Teaching Fishing; or, Empowering Users with Technology

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 | 3:30PM–4:15PM | Creekside I & II
Session Type: Professional Development
"Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." This session will discuss the issues of "teaching fishing" (in relation to technology) to staff and faculty members on a campus with over 15,000 people. Although it can be much easier to do something for the end user in the short term, the long-term benefit of teaching them how to do the task themselves is much greater. We'll discuss the issues surrounding doing versus teaching and solicit your input as we share our implementation plan for "teaching fishing."
