The Survey Says: A Fresh Look at Digital Natives
Tuesday, February 12, 2013 | 3:30PM–4:15PM | Capitol Ballroom E
Session Type:
Professional Development
Differing perceptions between digital immigrants and natives makes it difficult to provide services that meet students' needs. Four years ago, Rice University embarked on a longitudinal analysis of our university's digital life using experimental, survey, and ethnographic techniques. The results surprised us and may surprise you as well. Using a game show format, the session will explore the study's results. What are students' reasons for selecting a computer? How important is a common interface across courses and systems? Do students want faculty to use Facebook for class? PowerPoint? What's the most important feature of a course management system?
