This session will describe how to use The Hero's Journey as a way of creating a blended/flipped course that engages students and helps them transform course content into knowledge. The course design, which evolved while the presenter was teaching at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and the University of Maryland, uses gamification techniques along with innovative online delivery methods for content delivery. The face-to-face meetings include a variety of active learning exercises, which students use to test and refine their understanding of the course content.
