The explosive growth and rapid obsolescence of information has created the need for professional development methods where knowledge can be self-organized and connected through formal and informal channels. Through theory and practice examples, expert commentary, and audience interaction, this presentation will focus on helping information and educational technology professionals develop personal learning environments (distributed knowledge building tools such as Twitter, Diigo, and Google+) and personal learning networks (groups of people that share a common interest collaborative project or research and connect to through social technology).
