Thursday, March 03, 2016 | 9:00AM–10:00AM | Colorado Ballroom GH, Lower Level 2
Session Type: Professional Development
IT professionals in higher education tend to be multitalented, with a wide range of skills and personalities that must match closely to the diverse needs of their clients (faculty, staff, and students) from both a technical and "soft skill" standpoint. Most technical skills can be learned; however, technology staff must learn how to communicate effectively and collaborate with groups and teams at all levels. This session will discuss methods for developing such "soft skills" among staff as well as ways to identify personal characteristics that are required for creating high-performing cross-functional teams.

OUTCOMES: Discuss strategies and identify elements of action plans for developing high-functioning teams * Identify leadership qualities for forming and managing high-performance teams * Explore training and motivators that yield high performance in staff
