Mentoring and Training on a Budget

Thursday, April 07, 2016 | 2:00PM–2:30PM | Overture I Foyer
Session Type: Professional Development
In order to accommodate tighter budgets, we hire part-timers in place of FTEs with a focus of having two part-timers for every shift. One example is hiring a single coordinator for two to three satellite centers instead of a single coordinator per satellite. Mentoring and on-the-job training are major components of our staffing and development plans. Our plan involves managers teaching supervisors, supervisor teaching full-timers, and full-timers mentoring part-timers. The mentoring is based on a set of parameters, which include departmental needs, team goals, and individual goals. We offer tuition assistance and degree attainment stipends.
