Leading the IT Organization in a Changing World

Thursday, July 12, 2012 | 11:00AM–12:30PM | Robert E. Perry Room, Third Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
A major role of the CIO is leading the IT organization, including managing the relationship between central and local IT units. IT service portfolios are increasingly in a state of flux as consumer technologies become more common on our campuses, IT sourcing needs change, cloud services emerge, and customer needs/demands adjust to the ever-changing landscape. As leaders, we must help achieve a balance between operational efficiencies and innovation. To accomplish this and serve as effective leaders it is essential for us to have self-awareness and competency in assessing our fit within our organization's culture. Do we have the skill sets to deliver the services our constituents need and to position our institutions for success in these environments of continuous change? This session will examine the key leadership activities for a CIO in organizational development in a changing world.

Objectives:

  • Discern the impact of changes in institutional context and technology's on the IT organization's human resources and ability to perform
