Session Type:
Professional Development
The higher education CIO position has multiple roles within it - leader, strategist, educator, technology-provider to name a few. We act in these various roles every day, calling on different skills to carry out our responsibilities. This role diversity is a great challenge and yet it also drives the excitement many of us have for our profession. Appreciating these different roles, institutional context, and the strengths we each bring to the job is important for any successful CIO. Are you ready?
Objectives:
Identify CIO roles and the skills and behaviors that are effective in higher education
Recognize how institutional context affects the CIO position and its multiple roles
Generate a personal assessment of readiness for various CIO roles
