Understanding the finances of your institution, where the money comes from, and how it is spent will help you see the perspective of the executives on your campus and help you frame your projects and initiatives in the broader framework of the institution and its challenges. This session will share some general concepts of how an institutional budget is put together and sliced and diced, and how you can keep it all straight in your head.

Objectives:

  • Participants will gain a general understanding of an institutional budget. The parts it is made up of, sources of revenue and expenses.
  • Participants will be introduced to different methods of preparing a budget and the pros and cons of each.
  • Participants will learn how to quickly and effectively keep a budget on target.
