During this session, we will work through an ethical dilemma when online instructors pose as fictitious students. These instructors argue that their goal is to encourage deeper learning in their online courses, but students often feel betrayed by these practices.

Objectives:

  • Participants will discuss the ethics of online instructors posing as fictitious students as a way to encourage deeper learning.
  • Participants will discuss effective ways of articulating and addressing ethical behavior in online teaching practices.
