This session is an overview of major factors impacting the use of information technology in higher education and how IT managers can successfully navigate and prevail in this dynamic environment. We will examine how these trends and influences are impacting information technology organizations on our campuses and discuss our role as IT managers in helping our staff and community understand and thrive in an ever-changing in environment.
Objectives:
- Develop a context for understanding the history and trajectory of change in the information technology landscape
- Recognize the importance of adopting a broad perspective on the evolution of technology, transcending immediate technical details, hype, or fads
- Explore high impact trends including data analytics - gaining a better understanding of what is on the five-year horizon
- Participant will gain an understanding of guiding principles that will be useful in navigating change including strategic alignment and assessment
