Field-based classes are enhanced by pen-enabled tablet PCs. The mobility of a tablet PC allows Vassar students to investigate geospatial and statistical problems in the field with software, a full set of data, and a digitizing pen to record new findings and observations in real time. In this regard, tablet PC use has been transformative for field classes.
