Online Lightning Round - Open Learning Showcase: Kicking It Up a Notch: Facilitation as a Value Proposition in Open Learning

Tuesday, February 15, 2011 | 1:35PM–1:50PM
Session Type: Professional Development
Open educational resources (OER) exist along a continuum ranging from open texts and content repositories to facilitated open online courses. This session will engage participants in an active discussion over concepts and definitions that span the OER spectrum, with a focus on facilitated open courses. At what point does content becomes a course? In what ways does facilitation matter? The goal of this session is to deepen our collective understanding of facilitated open learning formats based on three case studies, including massively open online courses (MOOCs).
