Implementing a New LMS: Brown Promotes Collaboration, Reflection, and Learning

Monday, February 04, 2013 | 3:15PM–5:30PM | Plaza Exhibit
Session Type: Professional Development

In this poster session, we will offer three different departmental perspectives on leveraging the adoption of a new technology tool to rethink teaching and learning: Instructional Technology (ITG), Continuing Education (CE), and the Library. When the LMS at Brown reached the end of its lifespan, we chose a truly collaborative model in a campus-wide inclusive process in order to focus on teaching and learning rather than on the technical implementation of a tool. We will share our experience, which may help inform your own adoption practices.

Learning Objectives:
* Consider how a collaborative approach to technology implementation prioritizes a focus on teaching and learning for a better user experience
* Reflect on opportunities to engage faculty and students on your campus based on examples provided by this collaborative team
* Identify strategies for engaging faculty and students when a new technology is introduced to the university
