Wednesday, February 06 | 10:45AM–11:30AM | Plaza Ballroom D
Session Type: Professional Development
In this session, we will explore place-based mobile learning in university contexts. Following a brief introduction, we will use the play of a simple game to start conversations about design and implementation of mobile games to connect curriculum and local place at home institutions. Throughout the session, we will introduce participants to the key technologies we have employed, as well as the effective methods surrounding their use. Participants should plan to bring their own iOS device (iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad).

Learning Objectives:
* Discuss the advantages and drawbacks of existing place-based mobile projects
* Apply your understanding of current projects to enhance future design of mobile learning experiences
* Design place-based, mobile learning experiences relevant to your teaching and learning context
* Engage students in the design and creation of place-based learning experiences
