The Making and Use of a Lightboard at Duke

Tuesday, February 10, 2015 | 11:00AM–11:45AM | California Pavilion Promenade, Second Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
In June 2014, the Duke Digital Initiative at Duke University rolled out a modified version of the lightboard developed by Michael Peshkin at Northwestern University (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=N1I4Afti6XE). This poster will describe the design changes made to create Duke's lightboard, the wide array of fluorescent markers and cleaning techniques we have tried, the types of typical lecture videos created with it, and some of the nontraditional uses we have explored.

OUTCOMES: Understand how lightboards are used * Weigh design considerations for their lightboards * Learn practical details about marker choices and cleaning * Imagine how lightboards might be used for purposes other than lectures
