The Secret to Learning Space Design

Monday, February 09 | 3:15PM–4:00PM | California Pavilion Promenade, Second Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
This session will present how one institution has successfully created a community of practice around active learning that promises to transform teaching. Within the past year, a team of faculty, administrators, instructional designers, technologists, and an anthropologist worked together to put in place two active learning labs. While these teaching labs are brimming with impressive technologies, we have realized that their true potential for transforming teaching practices lies in the rich interdisciplinary conversations around pedagogy that have occurred by the faculty who use the space.

OUTCOMES: Learn about the academy model for faculty development and its potential for creating transformative change * Learn how to encourage cross-disciplinary conversation about teaching Identify strategies for stimulating research about the scholarship of teaching and learning
