An Online Tool for Matching Students with the Right Education

Wednesday, February 03 | 11:00AM–11:45AM | Texas Ballroom Foyer, Fourth Floor
Session Type: Professional Development
Universities in the Netherlands are obliged to offer a "matching program," in which the university helps prospective students check whether the program they want to start is the right choice for them. At the University of Groningen online classes are one of the matching possibilities. With these classes, we want to help participants make a well-considered choice by offering them a peek into the freshman year of the program (through video lectures, articles, etc.). After following an online class, 43% of the students indicated that their perception of a course had changed, and 13% decided to follow another course of study.

OUTCOMES: Learn about online learning in the context of study choice * Learn how to introduce web classes in your own work * Get strategies for creating a realistic image of a study
