Assessing Online/Blended Learning in Resident Instruction Courses at a Large, Research-Intensive University

Wednesday, September 15, 2010 | 3:45PM–3:55PM
Session Type: Professional Development

This session will describe our assessment of 11 resident-instruction courses modified for blended or online environments. An assessment team developed a plan that included midsemester feedback, a final survey, and efforts to measure student learning outcomes. The midsemester feedback provided information to each instructor about student learning in his or her course. The final survey assessed the overall effectiveness of the courses and the impact of the course format on students' experiences. Student learning outcomes assessment, accomplished in two courses, explored the extent to which students met course-specific learning objectives as measured by multiple-choice tests.
