Understanding and Measuring the Impact of Open Content Initiatives at the CSU

The CSU has embarked on a number of initiatives aimed at creating, sharing, and using open content teaching materials through avenues such as Merlot, Flat World Knowledge, and others. In this session, we will describe these initiatives and present a framework for understanding and assessing their impact on student success, as well as address early findings, remaining questions, and future plans. Participants will be able to identify several open content initiatives under way in the CSU, describe a framework for understanding the impact of open content on student success, identify initial findings regarding the impact of open content initiatives, and explain complexities and remaining challenges around measuring the impact of open content.
