Leadership in a Disrupted Industry

Wednesday, November 06, 2013 | 1:05PM–1:35PM
Session Type: Professional Development

NOTE: The times listed are in EASTERN TIME.

Higher education produces leaders who understand sustaining innovation. They have grown up inside a traditional structure, with fairly transferrable experiences. They know how to improve an institution in small ways that accumulate over time. But today, higher education requires leaders-at every level-who understand how to reinvent our products, services, and procedures. Today's leadership requires higher levels of collaboration, complexity, and risk than ever before. Traditional leadership preparation could never imagine the amount and speed of change we encounter today. Leadership in a disrupted industry will discuss the approaches to leadership and change that today's environment requires. The principles and approaches presented will apply to those who sit in defined leadership seats as well as those who aspire to them.

Learning Objectives: Discuss the way disruptive change is pressuring higher education | Offer concrete suggestions for successful leadership actions
