Comprehensive GTA Pedagogical Development: Preparing Graduate Students for Teaching Success

This session will give an overview of the range of programs and services provided to graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) at the University of Georgia to aid in developing their instructional competencies. In addition to taking a university-required TA orientation and semester-long pedagogy course, GTAs can also choose to engage at any number of additional levels, from a single workshop to semester-long programs of study culminating in an interdisciplinary certificate in university teaching.

Outcomes: Understand how a university-wide teaching preparation program can be structured to prepare all TAs for classroom success * Obtain strategies for preparing future faculty to teach * Learn about the components of UGA's interdisciplinary certificate in university teaching
