There have been many recent calls for increased information literacy. But are we truly grappling with the uniquely digital elements of our current crisis? In this session, Mike Caulfield will outline the surprising and counterintuitive features our misinformation problem and show how a “digital first” approach can address those challenges. Pulling from recent research and classroom experience, he will demonstrate the dangers of relying on print-based methods of analysis in a digital world and suggest new digital techniques to help our students navigate online information.
