GCIEL: Using VR to Promote Interdisciplinary Collaboration in the Liberal Arts

The presentation will introduce the Grinnell College Immersive Experiences Laboratory (GCIEL), an interdisciplinary community of inquiry exploring new ways to approach the liberal arts through immersive computing platforms (3D/VR/AR). After highlighting two projects in history and psychology, we will conclude with a discussion of project workflows, lessons learned, and lab objectives.

Outcomes: Learn how VR can promote collaboration between student workers, faculty, and staff in a liberal arts context * Explore the hardware and software required to build immersive VR experiences
