IT Governance

Executive management has long realized the need for institutional governance of human, financial, and physical assets. Most senior managers also realize the need to extend effective governance to IT and to provide the leadership, organizational structures, and processes to ensure an institution's IT strategy is aligned with and extends the enterprise's strategies and objectives. Effective IT governance allows institutions to stop thinking about IT in isolation and start developing IT as an institutional competency. This presentation will explore some problems with establishing effective IT governance in higher education and some good practices from both the private sector and higher education.
