U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity Engagement for Colleges and Universities
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is increasing its efforts to enhance cybersecurity awareness and network protection at colleges and universities in response to the recent wave of cyber attacks and data breaches. DHS will be providing a threat brief on the landscape of cyber threats facing colleges and universities, as well as DHS resources, programs, and tools to help colleges and universities maintain secure networks and prevent cyber attacks. In coordination with our Federal partners and the private sector, DHS responds to cyber incidents, provides technical assistance to owners and operators of critical infrastructure, and disseminates notifications regarding current and potential security threats and vulnerabilities. In addition, the United States Secret Service (USSS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigate federal cyber crimes, including data breaches, cyber intrusions, and attacks.
